New Build Architects in North Shields, Newcastle and the North East
A new home provides an incredible opportunity to create architecture specifically for its site, its surroundings and the people who will live there.
House of Grandeur designs bespoke new-build homes across Newcastle, North Tyneside, Northumberland, and the wider North East, developing architecture that responds to your needs, site, landscape, and materials.
Designing with a Blank Canvas
Every site has its own opportunities and constraints.
Before developing the architecture, we consider its relationship with the landscape, access, views, nearby buildings or features, orientation and the movement of the sun. These are a few factors that help determine how the home should sit within its surroundings and how its spaces can make the most of the site.
Bespoke Homes for Contemporary Living
A new home should be designed around the people who will use it.
We work closely with clients to understand how they want to live, how spaces need to connect and what matters most to them. The resulting architecture is developed specifically from the brief rather than being based on a predetermined house type.
Sustainable New-Build Architecture
Sustainability is considered from the earliest stages of design.
We look at orientation, natural daylight, passive solar opportunities, building fabric, energy use, materials, landscape and long-term adaptability.
Natural materials can also contribute to the character and performance of a building. Our approach considers materials such as timber, stone and slate not simply as finishes, but as part of the architectural response to place.
A New Home in Northumberland
Our Northumberland new-build project (which is in design development stage) demonstrates this approach.
Sustainable natural timber, stone and slate dwelling grounded in place yet open to the horizon - featuring vertical Accoya timber cladding, fine light-framed glazing and courtyard spaces that lead to the surrounding landscape. Reed beds and native planting soften the geometry, blending texture, light, and shadow into something quietly powerful.

Planning a New Home
A successful new-build project requires careful consideration of planning policy, site constraints, access, landscape and the relationship with surrounding buildings.
We can assess a site at an early stage, helping clients understand its potential before significant investment is made.
Our feasibility work can consider:
-
Planning context
-
Site constraints
-
Access
-
Landscape
-
Orientation
-
Existing buildings
-
Development potential
-
Initial design options
-
Likely project costs and complexity
